Minister Dung highly valued Japan and JBIC’s support for Vietnam through its assistance for the country’s economic development, especially in implementing energy transition and green growth, and expressing his hope that the two sides will further strengthen the cooperation relations in the coming time.

The minister asked JBIC to pay attention to and assist Vietnam in developing high-quality infrastructure; promote the linkages of financial institutions to help Vietnam implement energy transition and green growth projects; and call for more Japanese investment in Vietnam.

For his part, Maeda spoke highly of the MPI’s activities to materialise green growth goals.

The Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) initiative by Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio aims to set forth cooperation orientations in building an Asian community towards carbon emission reduction, energy security and sustainable development. He said, Japan plans to set up a joint working group for AZEC implementation.

The working group is expected to draw the participation of both Vietnamese and Japanese agencies, and will focus on some activities such as energy transition, green transformation at power plants, renewable energy (such as rooftop solar power, offshore wind power, biomass power, waste-to-energy), and actions to improve the business environment, he went on.

Minister Dung affirmed to work closely with relevant ministries and sectors to join the group, adding that Vietnam puts much efforts to implement the Just Energy Transition Partnerships (JETP) agreement and strive to achieve net-zero emission by 2050.

He also emphasised Vietnam’s needs and priorities developing strategic infrastructure, building the North-South high-speed railway and Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City metro lines./.
