Deputy Minister Tran Quoc Phuong receives KfW Director for Southeast Asia

Deputy Minister Phuong took the occasion to express his gratitude for the effective support of the Government and people of Germany, with many infrastructure projects provided by the KfW are being implemented in Vietnam.

The official development assistance (ODA) cooperation between Vietnam and Germany is prioritised in three areas of environmental and natural resources protection, vocational training, and energy. KfW-funded projects are carried out in the sectors of energy, afforestation, biodiversity, and vocational training.

Especially, among projects on the Mekong Delta’s sustainable development in adaptation to climate change in the coordination of Vietnam and six development banks, namely the Asian Development Bank (ADB), French Development Agency (AFD), Korea Export-Import Bank (KEXIM), German development bank (KfW), World Bank (WB), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the KfW has committed for financing one projects in Tien Giang province.

Vietnam always welcomes the KfW to successfully do business in Vietnam, he went on, adding that the Ministry of Planning and Investment is committed to working closely with relevant agencies to materialise projects in accordance with the provisions Vietnamese laws and mutual benefits.

In reply, Bohnet expressed his impression on Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements in recent years, hailing the close coordination between the two Governments and related agencies, especially financial cooperation between Vietnam and the KfW.

He also thanked the MPI for their cooperation with the KfW to remove facing difficulties and accelerate the implementation of the projects./.
