Deputy Minister Dong spoke highly of the association’s active coordination in policy-making towards energy transition, response to climate change and promotion of sustainable development in the region.

He said, Vietnam has set out ambitious net zero emissions target by 2050, including energy transition. Under the recently issued National Power Development Plan VIII, renewable and new, clean energy will receive special priorities and coal and gas-fired power generation will gradually eliminated. The country also strives to achieve the goals of socio-economic development, energy security, energy transition, carbon neutrality and sustainable development.

The deputy minister suggested ANGEA exchange discussions and share international experiences with the MPI in developing new energy sources that in line with Vietnam’s orientations. The ministry is ready to accompany and support the association, and remove their obstacles in the economic and investment cooperation, including cooperation in energy development.

In reply, Paul said Vietnam has high potential for energy development, affirming that ANGEA members pay much attention to the Vietnamese market. He described Vietnam as a safe and promising investment destination, and called for continued cooperation from Vietnamese agencies in promoting investment opportunities, such as organising conferences to introduce Vietnam’s business climate./.
