Deputy Minister Trung thanked USAID and personally Grubbs for the sound cooperation with Vietnamese agencies, including the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI). The organisation’s support has actively contributed to Vietnam’s socio-economic development through development assistance projects in health care, education, climate change response, energy and governance capacity building for businesses, he said.

USAID always implements their projects in accordance with orientations set out by the two sides, working closely with the MPI and relevant agencies to promptly remove facing obstacles and difficulties. Especially, the USAID and the MPI’s National Innovation Centre (NIC) jointly launched a programme called “New Opportunities” on June 28, under the guidance of the Workforce for Innovation and Startup Ecosystem (USAID WISE).

The official affirmed that the ministry always wishes to listen to, share with difficulties and accompany USAID in their project implementation in Vietnam. The USAID-MPI partnership will become a role model to promote the Vietnam-US comprehensive relations in an effective and substantive manner.

Grubbs, for her part, thanked the MPI for their close cooperation with USAID to effectively carry out various joint projects in recent years, with a focus of improving health and social services, training human resource, mitigating effects of climate change, and developing sustainably.

She vowed to continue promoting cooperation with and provide assistance for Vietnam in areas of shared concerns./.
