Deputy Minister Ngoc highlighted that the Danish Embassy in Vietnam plays an important role in encouraging Danish investment to Vietnam. Denmark is a leading green nation, and the two countries have signed the Energy Partnership Programme (DEPP) and the Green Strategic Partnership (GSP) which are currently being drastically implemented by relevant to reach set targets. These are foundations to further strengthen the Vietnam-Denmark relations and helping Vietnam fulfill its commitments at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).

Vietnam has recently approved the eight national power development plan (PDP8) for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. The plan aims to successfully carry out implementation plans for the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JEPT) in accordance with smart production and power grid construction, advanced power system management towards green transition, emission reduction and science-technology development.

Various large and multinational corporations seek investment opportunities in Vietnam in wind power plants and renewable energy. She said, the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) will act as a bridge to connect businesses and introduce potential in renewable energy and wind power industries in the country.

Speaking highly of Vietnam-Denmark partnership in recent years, Ekeroth praised both sides for effective coordination in the field of energy. The energy partnership cooperation with Vietnam provide Denmark’s assistance in strengthening Vietnam’s transition to a low-carbon economy and promoting the development of renewable and wind energy.

Ekeroth said Vietnam provides great potentials in developing the wind power supply chain thanks to many seaports and signed free trade agreements (FTAs). Denmark’s Vestas company will share experience with Vietnamese sectors to make contribution to the development of the wind power industry in the country, she added.

Vestas Vice President Dyrholm expressed his hope to receive the ministry’s support in seeking investment opportunities in the wind power industry and wind turbines in Vietnam since the country owns huge potentials.

Deputy Minister Ngoc stressed that Vietnam always creates favorable conditions for investors to apply green and environmentally friendly technology. The MPI will assign relevant agencies to come up with specific business and investment activities with Vestas, she said, adding her belief that the group will have effective operation in Vietnam, thereby elevating the countries’ cooperation to a new height./.
