(MPI) - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong hold a working session in Hanoi on August 3 with a number of Vietnamese ministries and Japanese Embassy in Vietnam to discuss orientations in the drafting process of Vietnam’s national strategy for industrialization, which is under the Vietnam-Japan cooperation framework until 2020, with vision to 2030.

Based on the close coordination and assistance from international friends, notably Japan, in Vietnam’s journey towards industrialisation and modernisation, Vietnamese Prime Minister had approved the industrialization strategy within the framework of Vietnam - Japan cooperation through 2020, with a vision to 2030.
The strategy targets to develop six priority industries, including electronics; agricultural machinery; processing of agricultural and fishery products; shipbuilding; environment and energy saving; and manufacturing of automobiles and auto parts.
The deputy minister highlighted some positive outcomes of the strategy implementation, including advancements in supporting industries, increase of localisation rate, and improvement of productivity and competitiveness of six priority industries.
The two sides discussed cooperation orientations in drafting and implementing the strategy in order to enhance Japan’s involve and experience sharing in the new context. The Vietnamese side sought for continued cooperation to further attract Japanese investment, especially in hi-tech, research and development, and technology transfer.
They agreed to continue to promote cooperation in the field of training human resources, innovation, infrastructure development, policy research and sharing of Japan’s experience in perfecting policies to accelerate greening and digitalisation of the economy.
MATSUMOTO Izumi, First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam proposed several policy suggestion to help Vietnam climb out of middle-income trap and become a developed country by 2045, including elevating the industry sector’s developmental, promoting restructuring towards high technology, and fostering an innovation-based economy.
He affirmed Japan’s ready to cooperate with Vietnamese agencies to set out new industrial cooperation orientations that in line with both countries’ demands./.
